Popularized by star chef Jean-George Vongerichten and found on high-end restaurant menus throughout the land, this decadent dessert - a thin shell of chocolate cake encasing an oozing, warm, and rich dark chocolate center - is deceptively easy to make, relying on just a simple batter and a brief stint in a hot oven, and they can be prepared for baking far in advance. We serve ours drizzled with a simple raspberry coulis and topped with sweetened whipped cream, and include 2 4oz mason jars for baking. While this recipe is designed for 2, it is easily scalable to serve more diners.
