From Soil to Snack: Teaching Kids the Power of Local Farming

Kids often see fruits and veggies appear on their plates like magic, but behind every apple and carrot is a story. In our classroom program, we pull back the curtain on where food comes from by introducing students to the farmers and land that grow their meals right here in Colorado!

Through interactive lessons, kids learn the basics of regenerative farming, why healthy soil matters, and how sustainable food systems benefit their health and their community. We’ll explore questions like: What’s the difference between conventional and local/organic farming? Why does it matter how animals are raised or how produce is grown?

By connecting classroom learning to the Colorado land around them, students gain a new respect for the work it takes to grow their food—and a greater awareness of how their choices impact the planet. It’s a meaningful, empowering shift that helps kids see themselves as part of a bigger food system.
